A posh neighborhood? What is now the Capitol Riverfront/Navy Yard area was a slum clearance project not long ago. Almost everything down there is new, mostly midrise condos and ground floor retail. I am amazed at the price points. It’s a young people’s neighborhood and I don’t know how they afford it. A lot of roommates I assume.
The former slum area has become a nice neighborhood for the condo set. For those still operating on old info about DC, I recommend going to an afternoon game at Nats Park or Audi Field. Walk around a bit and grab dinner somewhere. You’ll have plenty of choices, most moderately priced, and several right on the river around Yards Park. It’s worth exploring.
Politics aside, I think it’s an excellent location for someone like AOC, with no kids, good income, and a commuter lifestyle that makes a secure building less than a mile from the Capitol highly attractive.
