A very good friend of mine posted this on Facebook and it was so eloquently written that I decided to share it as is:
About an hour ago, someone from abroad sent me the following text, sent to him by an Arab friend living in Bethlehem. I’m not sure whether he was actively promoting and agreeing with what that Arab friend sent him, or was looking for me to comment on it. It said:
“You take my water, burn my olive trees, destroy my house, take my job, steal my land, imprison my father, kill my mother, bombard my country, starve us all, humiliate us all - but I am to blame; I shot a rocket back”.
This is so typical of the Palestinian narrative: Twist the facts, insert absolute lies and make yourself look like the constant victim. I am usually entirely unmoved by these things but this time I did respond, and here’s what I said:
“Tell him that the Jews were kicked out from their homes all across Europe. Their property was all taken. Their jobs were taken. Race laws were put in place. They were not even allowed to leave for another country in order to escape.
Then they were all commanded to report to the city centers for transport and loaded onto trains that took them (sometimes traveling for days) to concentration camps. There they were separated - women and children to one side, Men and strong looking boys to another side. Anyone who was strong enough was made to do slave labor until they dropped and either died or were shot dead, the rest of them were taken straight into the gas chambers.
Six million Jews were killed like that. Many more millions who survived had no home to come back to, and those who’s homes still existed found them inhabited by other people and were not allowed back.
Still, you never see jews blowing themselves up anywhere in Europe or the rest of the world, or living for 50 or 70 years in refugee camps, or flying aircrafts into buildings, or attacking Olympic contingencies or anything like that. The Jews got themselves together, got jobs, started from scratch and moved on. They rose from the ashes and made a life for themselves. You don’t find them on “most wanted terrorist” lists. You do find them on Nobel prize lists, on the forefront of technology, medical inventions that save the lives of millions. If we ever play the violin, it’s to lift people’s spirits with amazing musical abilities, like those Yehudi Menohin, Yitzhak Perlman and others.
The Palestinians will always be the most professional complainers in the world, playing their sad and unattractive violin music instead of getting a life. All they seem to be able to do is sit and whine about their misfortunes, how awful the planet has been to them, and the Europeans and others immediately reach for their violins to play sad music in the background as they mope and moan - and blow themselves up, stab people and propel rockets into civilian cities.
As for that guy in Bethlehem, living in his city and in his home, Please extend our apologies to him for the fact that, having been kicked out of virtually everywhere else in the world at one time or another, and seeing as we have all our history here, we are not likely to do what he really would like us to do: Leave every inch of this land and let them become yet another Arab mayhem state in the middle east, all at each others’ throats with occasional crescendo like “The Arab Spring” (didn’t that sound lovely when you first heard it?) “Isis” “Al Qaeda” - I think if one checks, one will find out that these are the things the Arabs are best known for. These seem to b their achievements and contributions to mankind.
Unfortunately, we are not playing that game.
The Palestinians have consistently missed every opportunity presented them for peace over the decades - starting in November of 1947 when the United Nations Security Council gathered to vote on the plan for the partition of Palestine into two states - one for the Palestinian Jews (yes, everyone living in the land at the time was a Palestinian, and that includes Golda Meir and David Ben Gurion, all living under the British regime) and one for the Palestinian Arabs. The vote passed, and in that plan the Jews were given way less than we have today, and the Palestinians were given way more than they have today. The Jews said yes, even though it was only a fraction of what we had in Biblical times, and went dancing for joy all over the streets of the land which was then still called Palestine - the name given to it by a Roman Emperor, Hadrian Caesar, when he crushed the second Jewish revolt against (no, not the Palestinians - they didn’t exist yet since the first Arab occupation of this land would not happen until about 500 years later) the Romans. And why did he name the land Palestine? To humiliate the Jews who he was so angry with for rebelling for a second time; he names the land after an ancient Greek nation called the Philistines, who had given the Israelis hell 1000 years earlier.
So the Jews said yes to the plan - but the Palestinians and the entire Arab world said no - they would not agree to any Jewish presence between the Jordan river in the east and the Mediterranean Sea in the west.
This is the very core of the problem, this is what the problem is: They simply don’t want us here, period.
But we were back, and with the plan for the partition of Palestine having become legal, Israel declared a state six months later, in May of 1948 and the Palestinians together with five Arab armies (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq) all attacked it. Israel prevailed.
Then, 19 years later in June of 1967 they tried to totally annihilate the tiny Jewish state, but tiny Israel stood its ground against three very well equipped Arab armies and took land from all three. Today they all talk about Israel going back to the pre 1967 borders - as if they ever gave us a moment of peace when that was the situation.
No my friend. If you like violin music, you can continue to listen to that friend from Bethlehem, but the situation is not quite as simple and straight forward as he would like you to think, and the Palestinian problem is not all Israel’s fault.
Israel is not and never claimed to be a perfect country or free of any mistakes - but my goodness, I can say with a clean conscience that, in the incredibly violent neighborhood we live in, called the middle east, a neighborhood which in recent years seems bent on throwing itself down the drain - Israel has done an amazing job of trying to remain independent while being humane. In fact, I’d say that in the face of the crazy odds it faces, Israel has done brilliantly!
The Palestinians have consistently been their own worse enemies. And as for the absolutely barbaric and inhuman leaderships the Arabs have - Hezbollah (and formerly PLO) in Lebanon, Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza and others, all placing canons in the middle of civilian populations, firing rockets at Israel from there and then crying to the whole world that “Gaza is under attack” and “Look how they’re bombing civilians” when Israel retaliates - those who are simple minded enough to buy that crap should really be asking the Arabs why this is happening, not Israel.
The Palestinians have consistently been their own worst enemies.
Tell your friend to put that in his pipe and smoke it”.

9:09pm May 18, 2021 Republicans in the House and Senate should not approve the Democrat trap of the January 6 Commission. It is just more partisan unfairness and unless the murders, riots, and fire bombings in Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, Chicago, and New York are also going to be studied, this discussion should be ended immediately. Republicans must get much tougher and much smarter, and stop being used by the Radical Left. Hopefully, Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy are listening! | |||
