I got the J & J. I was sick for 24 hrs, but I also had Covid. I was fine. My mother nearly died from covid. Both my parents decided to get the vaccine. The clotting is not because of the vaccine. For some reason, the body’s response to Covid is clotting, which happened to my mother and a female student of mine who was 17 (Covid, not the shot). This is why people on blood thinners are typically doing ok with covid. 6 women out of 6 million have experienced clotting. Think reasonably, that’s pretty low.
I served in the military and have had lots of vaccines, without choice. I’ve had all my boosters (MMR, polio, etc), plus numerous flu vaccines, and I’m pretty sure I’ve had yellow fever and the anthrax vaccine, and the small pox vaccine for sure. The kicker for me is the Adenovirus shot. Still to this day, I don’t get the “crud”. When everyone gets the quasi-flu, I don’t get it.
J & J’s benefit is that it protects you against other corona viruses, and it’s one shot. I’m a disabled vet and I get about 6-8 migraines a month. With the mask wearing, I’m at about 3-4 a week. I really have suffered with the masks, and I felt like I had no choice on the vaccine.
Think about other medications that mess people up, at much higher rates, but no one talks about. Birth control has been messing women’s bodies up for decades, and no one will talk about it. I took the deprovera shot while on deployment and I gained 50 pounds in a month. But there are no headlines over adverse reactions to birth control, even though some doctors whisper of the issues.
There are so many things that people do that are a risk, more risky than the vaccine. My favorite is the people driving with masks on, but don’t make complete stops at stop signs and don’t wear seat belts.
Weigh your risk, but be rational about it, and don’t buy into all the hype, on either side.
