"I may have some tomato success this year. Planting in same bed (8 hrs sun). Prior years the “blight” got them at late August and they grew very lanky/spindly. BUT got some “Copper Mixture” (I think it is also called Bordeaux Mixture) and put it on every 10 days to soil around the plants to inhibit fungus. They are now strong & healthy foot tall with many leaves and stem 3/8” to 1/2” wide. "

We also have grown toms crowded in the same soil for many years (a non no) and had some "blight" in 2019 but worse last year when the dozens of plants were growing great until about mid-August when the blight began and which wiped out about half or more of the crop. See here. Last year i did use a copper based fungicides and the plants were recovering but the warm weather ran out, as it does after about 5 months here.

Meanwhile, i read of

Plant blight-resistant tomato varieties

Here is a good recipe I found on the internet for preventing tomato blight that uses baking soda.

I can’t copy and paste the download but here’s the link.

I grow tomatoes every year and have never heard of any of those varieties. Last year I planted Celebrity and this year I've planted Tycoon. Have planted both before and like them both.

They have golf ball size or bigger tomatoes on them now. Spider mites are usually the biggest problem when the summer heat sets in.

A few year ago my husband built me waist high beds with frames above. This year I covered everything with chicken wire to keep out the birds.

We had baseball hail a week ago but the wire saved my tomatoes.
