Your contributions on this thread are so valuable that we need to figure out a way to get you a laptop or computer that is functional.

Seems I recall you mentioning that your finances are limited, perhaps some of us on this Q thread can be of assistance.

I replaced my old laptop with a new one 4 years ago and gave my old one to my DIL. Wish I still had it, would have given it to you. My new laptop BTW went bad, has a bad mother board, so I no longer have it or I would give that to you. (rarely use it)

Thank you for your very kind words. DH has a IT wizard friend and if my current laptop seriously bites the dust they’ll get me something.

I will gladly contribute toward a better laptop for LJ, who is most deserving! However, it’s hard for me to get past how much I detest the way Go f-— Me has cancelled or banned so many worthy fundraisers because of their overt leftist politics. I’ve never signed up on that site, and won’t.

I don’t know what other ways would be feasible though... To me, personally, sending a check to a PO box address, or money “to a friend” through Paypal seem to be most convenient options, though I can totally understand people not wanting to give out private info.

There’s got to be a good way to do this, though!

I think that's a great idea. I've been concerned about the moral hazard -- if LJ gets a new computer, then everyone will want a new computer. But too bad for everyone. LJ deserves a functional computer for her valuable contributions to the thread for as long as I can remember.

The other issues are (1) trust and (2) sacrifice of anonymity for the person setting up the Go Fund Me. We need someone like Bob Ireland, who's already "out there", to hold the money bag.

Or LJ could share her name and address by Freepmail, and we could mail a check to her.
