Good post, and so true.

“When your doctor spends more time checking his questionnaire on a computer or tablet than interacting with you, that’s medical collectivism in action. And he has as little choice in that regard as the desk employee at a hotel chain or the checkout girl at your supermarket.”

I’ve had a few doctors complain about having to follow a protocol when they know better. And a few good doctors retire.

My family physician doesn’t follow a protocol but I was one of his first patients when he set up his practice in town. I have noticed that specialists have a protocol or checklist they go through regardless of the patient like an assembly line. Heck half the cost of a doctor visit is for paperwork relating to government or insurance requirements and has nothing to do with patient care.

Our healthcare while, at this time, still one of the best in the world, is slowly becoming a hybrid with government and insurance rules overriding the physician-patient relationship. Medical collectivism is a good synopsis of where it is headed or what it has become.
