I've never seen so many stories of "leading" figures in a Party trying to cr*p on their own base...
Bush
Cheney
Romney
Flake
Hogan
You name it.
Every day there are new stories where they take shots at Republican voters for various reasons or they come out and back one another.
Can anyone tell me if they have seen anything like this before?
I'm not that old but I do know some history and I guess it's comparable to the Goldwater era in the 1960's?
Perhaps some Freepers can fill me in on these kind of historic struggles within the GOP and what happens next?
It’s not that difficult to understand when you realize they work for the Republican Party, not the American people. Everything they do is directed at enriching the corporation which is Republican party, and the base, by shaking things up is challenging their ability to provide for the party. They look at their base like consumers, and the consumers right now are getting it wrong. They need to convince the consumers to buy what they are selling, that their product is best for republican voters, and and convince them those who want something better are misguided.
Trump's Presidency was a symptom of the base getting wise to the GOP's lying, double-talk, and deception, so like an adulterer caught in the act, they are rubbing their contempt for us in our faces.
1964, at the Cow Palace, fist fights emerged on the Convention floor as Rockefeller and Romney began their trashing of Goldwater.
It had been building for months.
They believe there are too many people, especially in the third world and in the middle class in the United States.
Those people have to be kept from the levers of power.
Their numbers must be reduced to *SAVE THE PLANET*.
The Globalists are the ones to do it, and, of course, they must cling to power to *SAVE THE PLANET*.
All of this is based on the veneer of "sustainability".
Global warming, Peak Oil, Climate Change, Earth Day, Overpopulation, all part of the same ethos.

One easy way to look at it is ... they were never “Republicans” in the first place.
They were never Conservatives in the first place.
The absolute incredible point is the base keeps coming back for more abuse. I thought we had a leader who would take us away from the Uniparty (R). Guess again. After being thoroughly pummeled and ran out of the party and out of DC, who takes the Uniparty advice NOT to form a real second party (MAGA)? I get lambasted every time I bring up the fact that Trump deserted we independent conservatives for the Uniparty (R) swampers. No? What alternatives do conservatives now have? We can stay home or vote for the very same GD Uniparty (R) Judases we have for the last 30 plus years.
You guys got it. And meanwhile us deplorable s were busy carrying this country on our backs.
We thought that those we elected would tend to things.
We must never be that naive again.
The why doesn’t matter. Just recognizing that they ARE is the important thing.
They all need to go down in primaries.

Maybe the Republican party isn’t what you were led to believe it is. Maybe your vote is just a means to power some people have learned to exploit.
Trump running again is going to send them insane.
Also, ‘22 is going to be important. If the base revolts and throws out Cheney for example the GOP will never be the same again and I think they know it.
It’s literally “do or die”.
I know many Freepers have been waiting for this moment for a while: The chance to cleanse the GOP of these RINOs once and for all...
They want to defeat America and install one party rule, like that of China.
The “Base” is becoming fully aware of their treachery. And that is an accurate appraisal. The RINOs belittle and undermine their own supposed constituencies. That is “treachery” in my book. Primary time. Across the RINO board.

They feel obligated to keep one foot in reality while also trying not to lose votes from the Trump base. It’s a tough fence to straddle
