I actually feel too cold if the a/c is turned below 78 in the summer. Especially when going in and out from 95 degree weather. As long as it keeps the South FL humidity down, that’s all that matters. In the wintertime, of course, it just doesn’t ever kick in. This past one, we used a small space heater just where we were sitting, for periods of time during a total of about 15 days. Our electric bill is consistently below $150 a month (1600 s/f).
In summer, my thermostat is set to 78 for the A/C (electric blower etc).
Highest electric bill in summer is maybe $110 - $115; house is 2600 sq ft.
