Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura is a rare blood disorder that is considered a true medical emergency. TTP is diagnosed at a rate of 3-4in 1 million people per year. Potentially fatal complications can result from internal blood clotting, with damage to critical organs such as the brain and heart.
Does it often affect infants or kids?
I saw your post 8 so yes it tends to affect infants and kids.
There’s also 23.6 million children in the US under the age of 5. If we extrapolate that then that’s about 4.7 million kids under age 1.
If 1/3 of American adults have gotten the vaccine, then we can assume that 1/3 of the parents of the 4.7 million kids have gotten the vaccine. Or 1.5 million kids under the age of 1 have a parent that has gotten the vaccine.
So it’s entirely reasonable that the one case reported is not at all related to the vaccine and just 1 of the 4 or 5 kids that would have been expected to develop TTP anyway.
