an eccentric has-been rock musician, loses his grip on reality as his record label looks to drop him and his new ‘unique’ albums. Brian Wilson?

I've seen a number of way old rock stars in recent years. Some have aged well, some not so much. Justin Heyward from the Moody Blues still puts on a nice show. I used to see him in arenas, now it's little clubs in NYC. John Fogarty still plays his ass off. Daltry and Townsend are a bit creaky, but worth the ticket just for the catalogue they tap into.
Gary Brooker from Procol Harem is a vocal miracle. He's been singing the same song for 55 years or so, and he still hits all the notes, with a more rugged timber to his voice.

Kelsey has something he wants to say.
He understands that art comes after science.

I remember seeing Waylon Jennings play the Topsfield Fair (in MA) just before he died.
I had seen Waylon in his prime and it was a little sad to see this show because most of the folks up in Massachusetts had no appreciation for him. As he was singing, people were lined up at the concessions to get corn dogs and fried dough. Only about 1/3 of the grandstand was filled.
I think this was also just before he had to have his foot amputated for diabetes. I don't think he needed the money but I think he was doing it to keep his band members and stage crew, etc., employed.

"Oddly I saw john cale (post 7) in a small club in ca and rundgren just popped in and played along it was wonderful."Oh you dog, mad jealous! Rudgren has got skills, I saw "Utopia" and later "The New Cars", but that solo tour sucked.
