Lisa Christensen sat through every minute of the trial of Derek Chauvin as prosecutors and the defense each made their case in the killing of George Floyd.
She was an alternate juror, so she did not have a role in the verdict, but in an exclusive interview for "CBS This Morning," she said she was happy with the jury's decision to convict Chauvin after weeks of hard testimony. Christensen said she was reluctant to be on the jury when she was first called up.

No. Alternates are not witnesses to deliberations.
When someone says “I can’t breathe”, the proper response is not to kneel on them while they are prone. As a matter of fact, it is the worst thing you can do.
I got the feeling Chauvin enjoyed being a cop too much.
I'll admit I was interested in what she had to say, but wish I didn't have the opportunity to find out. It just smells fishy for jurors to be telling tales out of school. I wish the media would honor a code such as that.

In a civil trial, the standard is “more likely than not”. I could see Chauvin losing in a civil trial. But there was absolutely a possibility that Floyd died of a heart attack brought on by his exertions while resisting arrest. That is a no brainer. And if it was a plausible possibility, then that IS “reasonable doubt”!

Maybe I have this wrong, but I thought I read that the coroner testified that his death was caused by health-related issues exacerbated by the entirety of his altercation with the police, and therefore was not specifically due to his restraint by Chauvin.

Chauvin was not charged with intentional murder. He was charged with second-degree unintentional felony murder (unintended death resulting from the commission of a felonious assault).
When Liberal Mayors started 'weeding out the Neanderthals' from the Police departments in the 1970s, that began the slow steady decline of the quality of cops.

I completely gave up on Black people almost 20 years ago.
At work, I am polite and professional, but nothing beyond that.
In social situations, I am polite, but do not encourage conversation.
Outside of work and social situations, I keep my eyes on the ground and totally disengage.
That actually touches on why I could never be a cop. I’d be more of a “dirty harry”. But in the real world, anybody like him will soon find himself in prison for life. It would have been more interesting to be a texas ranger in the 19th century. They really were a lot like Judge Dredd in their role.
Why? A trial is a public function of government. Once the deliberations are complete, why should the public not be allowed to know what happened in a government action? Who does secrecy benefit once the verdict is delivered?

Even if I was a black cop, I’d never engage a black person. The exception of course would be a threat of bodily harm by trespassers on my private property.
Of course forcing only black cops to deal with black people will be racist, or something.

I read the statute again.
I have always lived in states where Second Degree Murder is intentional, but not premeditated.
Usually, First Degree Manslaughter is unintentional but involves a separate criminal act.

Those “results” would NOT be due to the verdict in the trial but to the refusal of government leaders to demand enforcement of the law, i.e., the immediate arrest of anyone and everyone engaged in unlawful activity. That refusal by government leaders is going to bring down this country if it continues much longer.
She sounded dumb as a rock. The only thing I could make out from the interview was her pleading for money for book rights.

Guilty or innocent. Whether the jury would have found him guilty anyway if they had been isolated from the rest of the universe, there’s no way that jury wasn’t tampered with considering the mad dogs threating any verdict they didn’t like with violence. And those same thugs were just aching to dox every juror and put them in the crosshairs of the murder mob.
There will be no fair trials anymore. The courts are compromised.
Antifa/blm, under the protected status of the DoJ, will intimidate jurors, as well as justices. Deepstate has control of the judicial branch.
