It depends on the type of cheese and what you are using it for. I’ll bet very few make it from scratch with quality ingredients, opting instead for a packaged version. Personally, I would not waste my time with any version of it, packaged or homemade. I’ll have a nice steak with homemade fries and a fine salad. Macoroni and cheese? Pfffft. Get a life beyond the mundane store bought tasteless crap.

I’ve made my own pasta and made my own cheese. I haven’t made them together as macaroni and cheese. The grand kids got the package mix.
