Ohio-based Spangler Candy Company brings back Necco Chocolate Wafers They'll be giving them away at two locations along the Boston Marathon Route on Patriot's Day.

The Necco Chocolate Wafer Roll is back on sale and the candy company that brought the product back will be giving it away in Boston on Patriot's Day. Spangler Candy Company says it will give the rolls away near the Boston Marathon finish line and at the Mile No. 22 mark near Boston College.

Advertisement Necco Wafers were originally made in Revere by the New England Confectionery Company, which was the nation's oldest continuously operating candy company until it shut down in 2018. The Ohio-based Spangler Candy Company now owns the Necco brand.

Spangler, founded in 1906, is best known for the 12 million Dum Dum lollipops and 2.7 million Candy Canes it produces each year.

I truly love chocolate NECCO wafers but my diabetes won't let me eat them now-a-days.   In all fairness, it was my mainlining Coca-Cola and consuming Atomic Fireballs and Gummy Bears en masse that brought on the diabetes.

You can also buy them from the Vermont Country Store, which has a lot of other olde-time candies as well.

Necco wafers were 5 cents per pack in ancient times. I used to buy Look and Big Hunk bars for the same price.
