Well, Rusty was a big boy! Corduroy was 12 pounds at his most. And he was probably one or two pounds overweight then. But he has six inch long fur so he looks bigger than he is.
I don’t think I get him much longer. He’s eating less and less. I have upped his pain meds to 3x a day. I quit the cerenia pills, they didn’t seem to do a thing to help his nausea. But I got some slippery elm bark from Amazon, and it’s like a miracle thing. The only bad part is he has to have three to four CC’s and he’s not excited about it. But like clockwork, a few hours after taking it he comes out hungry.
I’m sorry you are going through this. When the vet told me 5hey couldn’t find anything wrong with rusty, i watched him lose weight and function and its heartbreaking. I don’t believe in putting animals down just for dying naturally. I know some don’t agree but I consider them as a life and I don’t have the right to end it when I want to.. Rusty just had a bad two days before his death, but I was there with him. I have ended animals lives when they were severely injured and suffering terribly.
I didn’t mean this post to be depressing, you have been his loving mom and he has had a great life.
