Actually, Spirit, your porch is low enough that it wouldn’t be a problem to extend it a bit. I’d add an extra couple of feet so it’s more of a sitting area than a long narrow space. Heck, 3 feet of poured concrete along the whole front and you’ve got yourself a nice outside area. It’s enough to hold three or four TFT members for a nice visit!
I think that’s a great idea to extend the porch. The people that come out to fix the sidewalk can also pour concrete for the porch!
Hmmm...extending the porch isn’t something I considered. Would it look weird with part of it sticking out from under the roof? And there’s brick along the bottom of the porch. I suspect they wouldn’t be able to find new brick to tie in, but they might. And for me, the cost is always a consideration! I definitely don’t want any structural changes to the roof.
I do have a deck out back (it needs to be redone but that’s like a $6000 job). The front is mostly for cosmetic/curb appeal if I do sell in 3-4 years (better than 50% chance at this point). But I can get the contractor to give me a quote including extending the porch flooring. When I see what redoing the columns and putting in a handrail cost, I might just have them slap on a coat of paint and call it good! LOL
