It’s odd the snake stayed there for you to get the shovel Strange.
This reminds me that I had fried rattlesnake as a six-year old, and I loved it.
I don't recall the time of day but it was probably in the morning of a cool day and it was sluggish. It squirmed every time it was hit and coiled though.
