I did as well, and like you, found no interest whatsoever in doing it for a hobby.

One thing I remember about that parachute training is that all Marines were required to pack their own chute before jumping. Even if you were a high-ranking officer, you packed your own chute.

I guess that makes sense but on that first jump, you better hope you did it right!
