What about folks with no mortgage, whose house is paid off?
And who don’t have car loans or student loans?
If TPTB want to develop the land your house is on, or you fail to pay your property tax... you will find out who actually owns your house.
At best, you rent or lease it in a convoluted fashion.
Would they raze suburban subdivisions to make room for housing projects?
By comparison, the folks in danger would be those with houses on acreage.
You don't need a "reset" for that to happen. The Supreme Court decision on Kelo vs. New London proved that TPTB could use eminent domain to take your land if'n they wanted it, and sale of property on the courthouse steps for property taxes is a not uncommon event.
Property tax is a whole nothing thing, state issue.
I have not one cent of debt so I have no dog in the fight of debts resovling. Just doesn’t seem right somehow though.
Eeek correction:
Property tax is a whole NOTHER thing, state issue.
(Not a “nothing” thing!)
