Well generally I agree with your comment but that 95% number doesn’t mean 95% won’t get infected. It just means 95% will not have severe symptoms. No vaccine prevents infection, they just teach the immune system how to fight it so if/when a person is infected it can be killed off quickly.
Still 95% reduction in severe cases is a good thing, if true and if it hold up. I sometimes wonder if this is just “buying time” under the expectation that everyone is going to catch it at some point - just minimize the severity when you do.

The 95% from the clinical trials mean that, of those vaccinated, 95% were prevented from getting SYMPTOMATIC Covid-19. And of the 5% who still got symptomatic Covid-19, almost all were prevented from developing severe disease.
After the clinical trials, further studies showed that the vaccines prevented 90% of infections. Having an infection prevented doesn’t mean that the person wasn’t exposed to the virus with the virus attempting a DETECTABLE infection. If such virus exposure happened, the vaccinated individuals’ immune systems were so primed that they RAPIDLY destroyed the invading viruses before they could establish a detectable infection. Again, almost all of the 10% who developed an infection were either NOT symptomatic or were symptomatic but with non severe disease.
