“I was 18 when JFK was elected and in fact being non political then I voted for him. I knew nothing of his past, family or policies but just thought he was cool because he was so much younger than the old fogies who usually run”
The 26th amendment to allow 18 year olds to vote was passed in 1971. How did you manage to vote for JFK at age 18 in 1960?
When I read your response I was amazed anyone could be so ignorant . But before I replied I decided to call a dear friend of mine and tell him of your supposed ignorance. I told him your response and was laughing about it when he said to me that I was wrong and I did not vote for Kennedy in 1960 (because as you said it was not yet legal) but voted for him in an intra Squadron vote taken before the election. A sort of poll to assess his popularity and done just for fun.
I would have bet large on my being correct in what I said and would have of course lost.
My apologies for misstating what happened. I am properly chastised and embarrassed for forgetting what actually occurred. What makes it worse is I pride myself in my memory of the past and very distant past.
Pride goeth before the fall. Here I am flat on my ass.
