Much of what you say makes sense and in fact I am living your recommendation as far as taking care of my own and not being to very bothered by whats going on. Part of the reason is I believe little of what I read in the media although there is so much of it it does give one pause.
I do remember the 60’s well since I turned 18 in 1960. I just don’t recall the so very obvious corruption we see throughout Government.
Corruption has always been there—but the politicians were ashamed of it and tried to keep it secret.
One major difference these days is that they are attempting to use censorship and cancel culture to silence whistle-blowers.
The JFK corruption made this election look tame. MacNamara ran a war for profit. I don’t mean to diminish those who went to Vietnam...but hindsight is 20/20.
What has changed is the echo chamber found on social media (FR included.). We tend to read and favor that which makes us most comfortable. Everyone should stretch their legs and wallow in the crap from the other side. Every once in a while you might find a truth. Not often, mind you. But I have eternal hope.
As I tell my son in law, I hope I grow old enough for his beautiful two year old daughter to inform him how he is ruining her life with his outdated rules. That would make me laugh out loud.
