Having Leukemia I am very hesitant in taking the Vaccine.
I will be discussing whether to take it or not with my Oncologist next week.

So far everyone in my immediate Family has been Vaccinated with no issues outside of having a sore Arm.

If you are getting treatment. Depending on which one you are you could be recommended to not take it until 3 months after. You doctor might not be aware though.

God bless you. Cancer sucks.

@ 24 I cannot relate to what you are going through. Listen to your Physician. Be encouraged - you are not alone and don’t feel alone.

“Having Leukemia I am very hesitant in taking the Vaccine.”

We are in the same boat. I have lymphoma. I can save you the trouble of asking your onc. He will tell you to take it. I go to the #1 cancer hospital in the country and see a top doc there. Plus I have a local onc He also says to take it.

I totally disagree with the docs! I have not taken it and probably will not. If I take it at all it will be at least another year when better facts are known about the outcome.

Anyway, why take the vaccine when only about 9% of the population contract the disease and the death rate is .1%?

Finally, none of the docs will volunteer to tell you unless you ask them, “will I gain protection from vaccination.” As a fellow blood cancer patient and someone with a compromised immune system, the answer to that question is likely NO. If you have a compromised immune system, the efficacy of the virus is almost zero.

We still have much more to learn about this vaccine. Why put our remission at risk for such a low chance?
