I work for a major healthcare system in the Southeast. After 3+ months of availability to our close to 40K employees only 57% have had at least one shot.
I know this because this information was revealed in a delightful Friday afternoon email to our organization from our CEO. To say that the email was heavy-handed and coercive would be putting it mildly. Leadership is shocked, confused and apoplectic that so few of its prestigious front line workers have willingly submitted to experimental jabbing.
I’m rather enjoying watching the executive meltdowns. They just can’t understand why we aren’t all 100% onboard with “crossing the finish line”.
Yep, that was what was going on in my area just with the annual flu vaccine.
Many of the front line nurses were refusing the flu shot. At first the hospitals were telling the nurses that they were mandated to take the shot or get fired. The nurses all said “Okay, go ahead and fire us!” With the nursing shortage raging, and with the nurses being able to collect unemployment against their employer, the admin suddenly discovered that they were going to lose a huge number of nurses. This would have forced the hospitals to close down wings of hospitals. The admin suddenly was rethinking their decision.
It is ingrained in you during nursing school to be an advocate for your patient. Do the hospitals think that you won’t be an advocate for yourself as well?
I work in a health care facility. There is a group of us NOT taking the vaccine. One woman said she would pull her kids out of school if it was required. Everyday I get emails “reminding” me I have a vaccine available. Just delete it.
