So it could have even been on a Thursday that he was crucified. Correct. Please see my post directly below this one from a commentary from Bible Teacher, Dave Hunt.

Thank you. It just occurred to me. Jesus was on the earth for 40 days after his resurrection. He appeared on the first day of the week, Sunday, and he departed to heaven on Thursday, the same day of the week he was crucified. How about that! I am sure there is more to it than that. 40 days is certainly significant, 40 days in the arc, 40 day fast.

Yes 40 is a prevalent number in The Scriptures. By the way it rained for 40 days but they were in the ark for 150. Last week I reviewed some material with some folks and the point to be made relied upon the usage of 30 day months. The flood story is one of those cases. It gives the time range in months and days covering 5 months and later in the same passage it refers to the same period as 150 days.
