Many of you may not remember but the Masters was involved with another boycott threat a number years back..
Augusta National did not have any womem members, some woman was leading a boycott of all the major advertisers trying force Augusta National to admit women as members...
The ruling body of the Augusta National politely told the woman to pound sand....
They went to all their major sponsors and said, to avoid controversy you don’t have advertises during Masters they would do the tournament without any commercial interruptions...
That particular year, the Masters was broadcast start to finish without TV advertising...
Also had a classic photo that snuck past the censors at the NYT. Bunch of feminazi protesters, with an unnoticed man at the back, holding a sign that read “Iron my shirt.”
And they ended up letting in their first woman, Condoleeza Rice. Who, if you ever have a chance to go into Berckmans Place, there’s a chance the person greeting you at the door just might the former Secretary of State. There you’ll get to hobnob with VIPs at Augusta National.
Can’t imagine what it’s like in there
