Not when they're used to force people to buy a less quality product at exorbitant prices. We went thru this in the 80s with Detroit. Free and fair competition, even with foreigner's, is good for everyone in the end. Yeah, we had to get our act together back then too, but the quality of American automobiles greatly improved for quite some time.
The path we're on now is the path to ruin. We've only picked up the pace.
PS: I have NEVER heard any say this: "Oh boy, I just found out < insert product here > was made in China!! I'll bet the quality is outstanding!"
Today "made in the USA" is a sign of quality....
