Must have missed the sub-text of “Lonesome Dove”.

I think when most people hear “Larry McMurtry” they probably think of Lonesome Dove and not Brokeback Mountain. But hey, we have to queer up literally everything, including the Old West.

He wrote bigger and better works than that.
Only as big as your last hit I guess

At one time I was reading everything he wrote.
Lonesome Dove really was his best, I'm not just saying that because it won the Pulitzer.
Doves mate for life, as probably everyone knows, so it was about the loss of the one we loved the most, our true mate, whoever that might have been. He covered many aspects of it, including the loss of the unattainable one. Could even be a parent or a child, but I don't think he covered that one. Just mates.
Brilliant, I thought.

So they give him kudos (in the title) for that move. Not Lonesome Dove.

I will miss them about as much as they would miss me when I am dead and gone.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Pfft.

Yeah, I can’t believe that the headliner writer thought McMurtry should be remembered for Brokeback instead of the LD books.

He wrote better things than Brokeback Mountain to be remembered for.

When they told Parker and Stone about this movie they said if any cowboy is eating pudding in the movie, they’ll sue.
Of course McMurtry did introduce kneeling cowboys. I wonder if the Dallas football team had to pay him anything.

Trust in the Bible.
The Bible is quite clear on homosexuality.
America is lost if it doesn’t get back to God.

I suppose McMurtry’s biggest failing was not exploring the volatile transgender issues of his characters. 😆😅🤣
Does he have any statues we can tear down?
To: nickcarraway
I’ve always associated him with Westerns, especially Lonesome Dove trilogy
I didn’t know he wrote Brokeback Mountain.......I find that disappointing
