$250K?! Holy cow. It’s stressful enough when you have an issue with the IRS, but if I got letters telling me I owed that much money I’d have a heart attack.
Yes, we weren’t exactly calm, and feeling like, “this will all work out soon...”. Then later down the resolution road, some IRS worker told me on the phone that we were all set and NOT owing the $250K, and asked me to quit sending in FAXes all the time (which I would do, whenever I talked to one of them, just to capture what I was told, in writing), and I said, no, I WILL KEEP SENDING them until we get a letter from you/IRS that says this has all been resolved. Then we ended up getting like $800 more refund, after it was over.
