Cox Media Group is moving into the post-Rush Limbaugh era with new programs on news/talkers WSB-WSBB-FM (750/95.5) Atlanta and WOKV-FM Jacksonville (104.5).
Erik Erickson moves from 4-6pm to 12-3pm at WSB, followed by one-hour of Sean Hannity (3-4pm) and then Mark Arum from 4-7pm, who adjusts from his current 6-8pm show hours. The final two hours of Hannity will air from 7-9pm.
“I would never have gotten into radio without encouragement from Rush Limbaugh who has been gracious over the years with a lot of great advice and guidance,” Erickson, who has been with the station for a decade, said in a release. “It was an honor to fill in for him on his show, and it is overwhelming and humbling to move into the slot Rush occupied with such distinction for so long. I appreciate and intend to live up to the responsibility that comes with this time slot.”
Arum has been with WSB since 1997 and also serves as the traffic anchor for WSB-TV’s “Channel 2 Action News This Morning.” He remains as the youngest inductee ever into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame in 2017.
“When I was hired at 95.5 WSB over 23 years ago, I could never have envisioned that I would ever get the opportunity to host a drive time show on the best news and talk station in the nation. It’s a cliché, but this is truly a dream come true,” Arum said. “I invite all of Metro Atlanta and North Georgia to get all the news, weather and traffic they need, and the entertainment they want every afternoon with me and my pals on 95.5 WSB, Atlanta’s News and Talk.”
In Jacksonville, Mark Kaye, who recently stepped down from his morning show on CHR WAPE-FM to focus on his talk show at WOKV-FM, moves from 10am-12pm to 12-3pm. The syndicated Brian Kilmeade will now air from 9am-12pm on WOKV-FM. The show previously aired from 9-10am and 6-8pm on the station.
“As a life-long fan of Rush Limbaugh, I am still adjusting to a world without his voice,” Kay remarked. “Producing a daily show in ‘Rush’s timeslot’ is a daunting task for any broadcaster, but I am grateful to the leadership team at CMG and 104.5 WOKV for placing their trust in me. With the audience's help I promise to do my best to keep Rush’s spirit, energy, and unique brand of conservative entertainment alive. This is an incredibly bittersweet opportunity.”
“I am thrilled that we have the opportunity to elevate internal CMG talent to these critically essential dayparts on our news-talk stations,” Senior VP, Radio Rob Babin added. “Mark Kaye, Erick Erickson and Mark Arum each have a proven track record and commitment to our audience and communities. I have no doubt their success will continue as they expand to new dayparts and reach new audiences.”
All changes go into effect Monday, March 22.
Agree.
Steyn is the only one I want to hear. I cancelled my 24/7 last week. Constantly listening to Rush’s tapes, which I heard the first time, is creepy. It’s more Rush Reverence than Rush Revere. Time moves on and so must we. And except for Steyn, the replacements are lackluster, at best.
Steyn and Bannon are only two I agree with most times
Few talk radio righties are real conservatives
Most are republicans
They suck....including former never trumper Levin
Yep.
So it sounds as if there will be no real successor to Rush.
“Erickson is a Raffensberger Republican”.
A Fat, red faced version of of Raffensberger.
Excellent move by WCBM. Derek Hunter is outstanding. He is not as entertaining as Chris Plante, but he covers a broader range of topics. What is happening in our country is so depressing these days, but, if I listen at all, it will be Chris Plante 9-12 and Derek Hunter 12 - 3.
Rush was an A. Any others, and I’ve heard a lot of them, are on a good day maybe a B, but overall a C+. It is said the no one is irreplaceable. Concerning Rush, I beg to differ.
I like Mark Steyn. But in my opinion, he’s best in small doses.
Its history
No one is qualified to jump into Rush’s shoes, but no one should. If a new conservative talker becomes popular and important, it should be on his or her own merits, with his or her own style and ideas. Not sure who might do this, but I have become convinced that Seth Liebson of 960 The Patriot, in Phoenix AZ is one to watch. No one I have heard has displayed such a balance of courage and intelligent discourse as Seth. Worth a listen!

I missed that big announcement today. Who’s taking 9-12?
Chris Plante I hope?
Bannon could pull it off if you allow him to have some sidekicks around.
Doubt he could do 3 hours on his own.
But who says the format Rush used has to be used again?
Conservative talk radio is gone. Time to move on.”
For me the time for talk is past. I don’t listen anymore.
I truly hope EIB doesn’t just appoint a successor. There are many great talkers and a whole bunch of Eric Erickson’s.
The great ones will rise and make smaller syndication deals. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens.
Yes, this is news for those two larger markets, but there has been no announcement yet on what will become of EIB.
I ditto that!
I just looked up on WCBM website.
Hunter is good. Not my favorite by any means but deserving.
Bruce Elliott is taking back over a solo 9-12 slot. I like him a lot.
Sean Casey however isn’t all that exciting without a sidekick. Frank Luber and Bruce Elliott made for good teams with Sean.
I moved to Maryland 12 years ago and was very excited that conservative talk radio was so strong in such a liberal cesspool.
EXACTLY! Well, now I won’t have to worry about spending that huge amount of money to have the AM mod replaced on my car radio!
No reason to listen to the 12-3 time-slot any more. And does ANYONE listen to Erickson?
