China also has a shrinking window of opportunity to become the so called World Power they dream of. Demographics will prevent them from accomplishing much past the 2035-2040 time frame. Due to the one child policy they, like much of the west, don’t have enough young people to support their aging population. Plus they favored boys so they have more unmarried men then women. China will get old before they get wealthy. Trump prevents them from achieving their goals because he isn’t bought and owned by them, plus his America first policy resonates with us the average citizen.
Besides demographics one other possibility would throw a “wrench” in China’s goals, that would be the collapse of the Three Gorges Dam IMO.
