Northern states east of the Mississippi have issues with deer hunting.....I think it’s a combo of city slickers who shoot anything and libtards
Plus more public land leasing clubs with rules ....shoot an off the rule buck where I hunt it’s 500 bucks in the kitty....they might give a little if it’s an excited kid....button buck is a grand....don’t shoot yearlings and you won’t get that one
Low harvest rates and poor buck management ...up north comparatively
What surprises me is Maine New Hampshire and Massachusetts are similar harvest wise
I woulda figured Maine out front ....and New Hampshire
And Vermont doesn’t harvest more than Connecticut....pretty much which sorta supreme given Vermont has more sparse space
Even Rhode Island manages to snag a few thousand ...
It’s cultural no question of that
Hunting in the south and Rockies and parts of the Midwest is more part of the culture
It crosses racial and socioeconomic lines with ease
Northern Vermont is not like the rest of the State. There were 3 healthy bucks and 5 doe taken during all seasons (bow, rifle & muzzleloader) within 500 yds of my property. Can’t compare a 110 lb CT buck with a 180 lb VT buck. Numbers don’t tell the whole story.
