That is why the FDA normally requires _years_ of testing and studies before approving drugs.

I totally agree with you. We don’t even have much in the way of animal trials. Research on a prospective veterinary cv vaccine, in fact, was stopped when the lab animal recipients died (when they were exposed to a new cv strain ) and their immune systems overreacted with cytokine storms (most likely).
