Speaking of hipsters on the grape pizza thread elsewhere
A James Beard joint here in Nashville makes a tomato white bread and mayo parfait appetizer they charge a chunk for
Husk is the name
It’s so silly
I always think of The Emporers New Clothes
Exactly right!!!
THAT is a ‘mater sammich....
I’d likely sprinkle Parmesan on that...real Parmesan...but your grandpa had it down
Make sure them are Grainger County ‘maters.... :^)
He was a very ignorant man (grew up as as street kid in the streets of NYC). He married a German woman whom he turned into one of the best cooks (especially of Italian food) that I’ve ever had the pleasure of sharing a table with.
I miss them both...I miss their cooking...
Or you just don’t like tomatoes.
No doubt!
“Make sure them are Grainger County ‘maters.”
Why? The state with the most requested crop inside the US are from northern California with their sales more than from all the combined amount of sales from the rest of the country, and the largest sellers of tomatoes in the world come from China. (Before Trump brought them to their knees)

I’m Albertan you heathen rascal, if you don’t toast mine lightly, I’ll stop calling it the war of northern aggression! Heh
An Albertan???
I don’t believe Einstein toasted his ‘mater sammiches!!!! ;^)
There is no protein in that sandwich. A BLT will do it. Or, take cold slices of cheddar or your favorite cheese and add them. No melt this time- the cold cheese provides a little bite and salt and protein but the thickly sliced tomato remains the star.
If you can’t digest bread, use stiff iceberg lettuce. I do. It’s very yummy. Especially when the ingredients are all fridge cold except the just picked in the sun tomatoes.
Why????
Cause we’re talkin’ QUALITY ‘maters...Not cheapies....
I’m gonna catch hell, but I like BLT’s with Miracle Whip.
Putting on my asbestos suit now.
Miracle Whip, Hellmanns, Duke’s...They all taste pretty much the same to me...
2 slices of mother’s fresh homemade bread.
One beefsteak tomato, just picked and sliced- Hellman’s Mayonnaise on bread with tomato- salt.
Eat, smile, sigh...
Like this article, thauthor is nothing more than a squishy white bread sandwich. May look good on the outside, but nothing in the middle.
What no fried green tomato?
A topic for another delicious day.
dredged in egg and corn meal, fried in bacon grease..
Add this for another day too....
