This has already been done in the restaurant "Texas Hot" (click here) in Wellsville, Allegany County, New York since 1920; and they have sold millions of Dietz & Watson hot dogs with this sauce. There is no better. A lifetime of trying to find something better would be a waste. The recipe has been a family trade secret, like tHat of the original Coca-Cola.

TEXAS HOTS

But many have tried. Here is one, with comments:

Looks like greek chili to me, and that’s a fine combo.

Don’t get me started on people who put ketchup on eggs

They need to create a new condiment for hot dogs, basically a ketchup that tastes like mustard.

3 parts ketchup to one part Sriracha sauce is how we roll but never on a hot dog.

Here’s a little something I came up with a while ago...

Take some commercial Cajun spice mix. Add a goodly portion of ground Cayenne pepper to taste. Pour a big glop of Catsup or two and add several shakes of Tabasco or other hot sauce. Mix in the dry ingredients. Um-mm good.

Tastes great on eggs BTW.

I’ll never put ketchup on a hot dog in a bun (mustard and onion only), but for some reason ketchup is right for a fried-hot-dog sandwich. I can’t figure out why.

Mustard on hot dogs. Never ketchup. I think I have bought one bottle in over 70 years!

You might as well put mustard on french fries.

In Germany, they serve mayonnaise with pommes frites. It's not that bad, though I prefer ketchup.

I do that when I eat in an Army mess hall. I think the scrambled eggs and omelets are pasteurized and the fresh eggs have to be fried hard or hard boiled. You can’t get over easy, etc. because of the concern over salmonella. The eggs just don’t taste the best. Ketchup is what I use if they don’t have good hot sauce.

I’ve tried mayo on fries. Not terrible but ketchup definitely goes better. With a splash of Tabasco.
