This week, Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today decided to investigate an increasingly popular question pertaining to this whole ordeal: did Woods fall asleep at the wheel?
“To me, this is like a classic case of falling asleep behind the wheel, because the road curves and his vehicle goes straight,” Jonathan Cherney, a consultant who provides car accident analysis as an expert witness in court cases and former police detective, told USA Today.
“It’s a drift off the road, almost like he was either unconscious, suffering from a medical episode or fell asleep and didn't wake up until he was off the road and that's where the break application came in."
Another expert, Felix Lee, an accident reconstruction specialist, told USA Today said that based on the evidence he has seen, “speed wasn’t that much of an issue” in what transpired. Rather, “it was just some kind of inattention that caused the curb strike.”
Rami Hashish, a principal at the National Biomechanics Institute, an organization which reviews the cause of accidents, posited that “Woods’ very delayed response” suggests “he wasn’t paying attention at all.”
Last week, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva suggested that inattention to the road, for any one of a number of reasons, may have led to the crash.
Thanks
After the genesis open Tiger was interviewed. His face was very swollen and puffy. My husband mentioned it and I saw several online comments from others and that was before the accident. Wonder is he was on some anti inflammatory after his surgery possibly steroids
I suspect he takes a lot of painkillers. All that he’s been through, I can only imagine what he has to do just to make it onto the course.
Just east of the City of Sonoma, a feral group of peacocks often try to take over the road. Peta types will wreck their vehicle before whacking one of these birds.
A friend, who was big into tying his own fishing flies didn’t swerve to miss any that crossed his way.
Vicodin?
Rami Hashish? Seriously?
Different car, unfamiliar dash and controls, grasping for his phone or fumbling with it as he wanted to call/text someone.
Running late speeding and trying to call/text is a killer.
And in, maybe trying to call them or text them to say he’s on the way. . .who knows?
that’s where the break application
This from an automotive expert?
The vehicle “engine pan” area was hammered by the first curbing that it hit - the median.
Looks like that destroyed cooling lines to transmission and power steering; and probably whacked some of the brake system. (A definite fluid dump after the vehicle left the median.)
My guess, is that Tiger Woods was not asleep -— he “simply” picked the wrong moment to be distracted.
Wait . . . What?
Not assume anything?
What will FReepers do. . .
;-)
Probably drunk but he’ll get a pass like Springstein in New Jersey.
He might have been starting to text that he was running late..
He had a photo shoot with Drew Brees 4 miles away that he was late for, this is as simple as he was in a hurry, that is what happened
😁
I think we are safe for a while.
“Or.....
DWI - opiates or drunk.”
Yeah sure, he was drunk/doing dope at 7 a.m. in the morning, having gotten up even earlier, right... How ridiculous. He either was in a hurry, speeding and veered off the road (most likely, or possibly fell asleep, but I think this is much less likely. I thing he was going to fast, was unfamiliar with the road, and couldn’t negotiate a curve, thus hitting the meridian and taking off into space. Drunk, dope at 7 a.m. in the morning? hHighly unlikely to no way Jose (oops, that phrase is probably politically incorrect now).
You, obviously, have never known an addict or a drunk.
Fall asleep? Yeah that can happen after you stay up all night with your harem of hookers.
Common knowledge he’s had trouble with pain killers. They said he was running late and extremely angry when he left that day. Not sure what happened.
