As archaeologists began excavating the suburban villa of Civita Giuliana near Pompeii, they uncovered something extraordinary -- a discovery that stunned the excavation team!

Although Pompeii still holds 20 hectares waiting to be unearthed, new treasures are helping us piece together the story of this ancient city. But as something began to emerge from the volcanic ash, no one could have predicted what they'd find next.

In front of a stable, where the remains of three horses were uncovered during a previous dig, a well-preserved, 2,000-year-old ceremonial chariot lay buried six meters below the surface.

Protected by the volcanic debris from Mount Vesuvius's eruption in 79 AD, this four-wheeled treasure survived centuries of looting and damage.

Crafted from wood and iron, the chariot is adorned with intricate bronze decorations. It features seats for two passengers, metal arms, and even backrests -- a true marvel of ancient Roman craftsmanship!
