I think you’re right.
There’s a hike at Moraine Lake where you go to the Valley of 10 Peaks. You go up, up, and up for about an hour until you think you’re about to die and then there’s a fork in the trail. Continue on and die (though apparently plenty of people manage to survive) as the path crosses the Great Divide or take the fork and it’s an easy horizontal walk for another hour or so in a gorgeous alpine setting as the path takes you a couple of thousand feet above the lake. Couple of thousand feet straight down, but the path is wide and easy to handle.
Did it about 20 years ago and as soon as I can afford a helicopter to drop me at the fork I’ll go back, lol.
