Lots of Dems are demanding the “Jim Crow filibuster” be nuked. If Joe Manchin keeps his promise to preserve it, he is going to become a national pariah in his own party. I wonder if he’ll receive the media’s full-on smear treatment which is generally reserved for Republicans?
Democrats are really playing with fire. Joe Manchin represents a state where not a single one of the 55 counties have gone blue in either of the last 2 presidential elections. If they force Manchin to switch parties, they’ll lose their Senate majority.
Worth remembering that WV governor Jim Justice ran for governor as a Dem in 2016 and won 49% of the vote. In 2017, he switched parties, and in 2020, he won 65% of the vote.
