Well they were going to transfer himvto a hospital with a specialist, but this morning the doctor told him there was still lack of beds, and it seemed he was doing better, do they sent him home and were going to get him an appointment with the specialist at his clinic.

He is on a lot of medication, which doesn’t help his depression because it’s so expensive, so he told me today he needed to wean off of it. I told him he can’t do that.

So thats where we are now. It’s about him, but very stressful for me.

And he was already stressing about how much his portion of hospital bill he will owe and angry that we give so much to illegals for free.

Oh goodness!!

I’m sure that you/he has probably tried everything possible for assistance in his medical bills. Does he qualify any state benefits of any kind? I know some people don’t like to take ‘charity’ but I remind people it’s their tax dollars at work!

Second thing I would do, if it hasn’t already, is to check with the manufacturer of each of his drugs to see if they have any type of manufacturer discount or coupon. They work even with insurance. One of my drugs would cost $180 every three months with my insurance; I would use the discount card after that, which would give me a total out of pocket of $25 every three months. Some manufacturers have an income cap for the assistance; some just do it because they want you to use the product. Some require the prescription to be written a certain way (like for 30 days instead of 90 days). Just google the name of the drug; you’re usually looking for a section that says ‘support’ or something similar.

My sister, years ago, worked in a hospital billing department. Back then, they had an unadvertised policy of reducing the bills and working with the patient if the patient came in and asked for financial relief. They never, ever advertised this, but it was there. It may be worth visiting the hospital billing department and asking for relief and see what can be worked out.

He’s so right!

About the drug prices, I use Xiidra ($500/month) and Lotemax (not sure the price). Both have a coupon I use every month, $250 off the Xiidra and drops the Lotemax price to $35. Xiidra also has a program for low income patients, they’ll mail a 3 month supply for free.
