“It” is definitely down in my neck of the woods.

I bet they will revive the crisis, or create a new one, for 2022 elections.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/greg-abbott-slams-biden-saying-rolling-back-mask-mandates-neanderthal-thinking

“Gov. Greg Abbott slammed President Biden for describing Texas’s decision to roll back mandatory mask-wearing as “Neanderthal thinking.”

“Two things, Brian, first, it obviously is not the type of thing that a president should be saying,” Abbott told Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade Thursday on Fox & Friends.

“But second, he kind of said it on the worst day he could have. Because the same day he said that, in Texas, the Biden administration was releasing illegal immigrants into our communities who had COVID,” he continued.

It was reported this week that 108 migrants in Texas who were released by Border Patrol had tested positive for the virus and were allowed to travel farther into the country.”

“The Biden administration was spreading COVID in south Texas yesterday because of their lack of constraint, of testing, and quarantining people who came across the border illegally. The Biden administration was exposing Texans to COVID. That is [a] Neanderthal-type approach dealing with the COVID situation.”

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/louisiana-secretary-of-state-scraps-new-voting-machines

“Louisiana Secretary of State Kyle Ardoin announced Wednesday he would scrap his effort to replace the state’s nearly 30-year-old fleet of voting machines.

Two firms have objected to the process, claiming it was tailored to favor current vendor Dominion Voting Systems. Dominion also has been a target of unfounded conspiracy theories spread by Ardoin’s fellow Republicans alleging the company was involved in rigging last year’s presidential election.

“I am withdrawing the RFP to spend the next few months seeking to undo the damage to voter confidence done by those who willfully spread misinformation and disinformation,” Ardoin said in a prepared statement.

Ardoin said the process was “never rushed or inconsistent with accepted budgetary or procurement laws.”

“unfounded conspiracy theories” — I am so tired of hearing this phrase. It is all unfounded if you refuse to look at any evidence.

https://news.yahoo.com/trump-blames-mcconnell-kemp-loss-191321116.html

“Former President Trump issued a statement on Thursday blaming Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) and Georgia governor Brian Kemp for the loss of both Georgia Senate seats to Democrats in runoff elections.

Trump pointed to Kemp’s alleged failure to prevent a “rigged election” as an explanation for his own loss and that of the Republican senate candidates. The former president himself lost Georgia by less than 12,000 votes, and he has blamed his loss on massive voter fraud by Democrats.

Allies of the president have failed to prove claims of widespread fraud. Meanwhile, Georgia prosecutors have opened a criminal inquiry into a phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in which Trump asked Raffensperger to “find” additional votes.”

Allies of the president have failed to prove claims of widespread fraud. Meanwhile, Georgia prosecutors have opened a criminal inquiry into a phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, in which Trump asked Raffensperger to “find” additional votes.

Trump also blamed the Georgia loss on McConnell’s refusal to back $2,000 stimulus checks as part of the coronavirus relief bill passed in December.

“This latter point was used against our Senators and the $2,000 will be approved anyway by the Democrats who bought the Georgia election—and McConnell let them do it!” Trump said in his statement.

Trump was apparently responding to a Wall Street Journal editorial published on Monday, suggesting that the former president cost Republicans electorally, including in Georgia where Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue were defeated by Democrats Raphael Warnock and John Ossoff.”

‘Man about town’ in DC has put out a longer video (about an hour). I think he did it live stream.

I’ve just started watching it so can’t give synopsis of what he’s seeing/saying. He does say ‘White House’ in the title.

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/politics/arizona-senate-votes-to-clean-up-permanent-voter-rolls

“Arizona lawmakers are closer to putting a check on the state’s permanent mail-in voter registration.

The state Senate has approved Senate Bill 1485 along party lines. If enacted, Arizonans who fail to vote early over four consecutive elections would receive a notification in the mail asking them if they would like to remain registered. Failure to return the card results in the voter’s removal from the roll.

Under current law, a voter is removed only if they request it, mail is returned from the voter address as undeliverable or their status is updated by the state to be inactive.

The county recorder would be required to send out the notification of removal by Dec. 1 of the even numbered year after the voter misses an election. The voter has 30 days to return the notice.”

DelmarvaWx

A Severe Magnitude 8.1 earthquake struck just north of New Zealand moments ago. Tsunami warnings are issued for the surrounding areas with a Tsunami Watch in effect for Hawaii.

Although this will have zero impact to us here on the East Coast, if you have family or friends on the US West Coast or Hawaii. They need to keep a watch out for this.

20 state AGs denounce Democrats’ HR 1 as unconstitutional
“In other words, the goal is to censor those with whom the authors of the bill disagree,” wrote the attorneys general.

Twenty Republican state attorneys general signed a letter denouncing the House Democrats’ controversial election reform bill as unconstitutional for a slew of reasons just hours before the measure was expected to be voted on.

The letter — led by Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita — tore into H.R. 1, the “For the People Act,” a massive election reform bill and a leading priority for House Democrats this Congress.

“This monstrosity of a bill betrays the Constitution, dangerously federalizes state elections, and undermines the integrity of the ballot box,” Rokita said in a statement to Fox News. “As a former chief election officer, and now an Attorney General, I know this would be a disaster for election integrity and confidence in the processes that have been developed over time to instill confidence in the idea of ‘one person, one vote.’”

The attorneys general said the bill “betrays several Constitutional deficiencies and alarming mandates” that would “federalize” statewide elections across America and that “states have principal —and with presidential elections, exclusive — responsibility to safeguard” how they hold elections under the Constitution.
