In the recent BBC series “Sherlock”, the re-telling of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic series in a modern setting, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) was portrayed as a very brilliant heroin addict.
He actually was portrayed in one episode as using an overdose which almost killed him to come up with a solution for a crime.
In the books, Sir Doyle portrayed his Sherlock as an opium addict. In fact one of his stories, “The Seven Percent Solution”, was a reference to the 7% opium potency that Sherlock used.
Not an excuse for this nitwit in the article, just some trivia to go with it.
“In the books, Sir Doyle portrayed his Sherlock as an opium addict”
wrong ... Sherlock’s drug of choice was injectable cocaine solution, 7% solution specifically ... i assume you never actually read the books ...
Holmes poison was cocaine. Where did they get heroin from?
