I’ve been to the one in NH. I’m not sure ehy it’s compared to Stonehenge. I don’t believe for a minute it was built by giants altho the existence of giants is not in doubt.

The reason for my doubts is that this rock villiage is built tor tiny people or animals. The passageways are very small, barely 3ft.wide and the height is under 6 feet. My dad was 6’3” and had to bend over to walk through them.

NH is heavily littered with rocks and bolders. When it was first developed, they picked up those rocks and built walls with them, so as you go thru the woods, you will find these old fencelines all over the place. You use the building materials that are in greatest abundance.

Sometimes you utilize the natural lay of the land and work with what it presents. For example, there is a very large, flat boulder laying down with a tivulet channel carved in. It looks like it could have been used as an alter or where they may have butchered animals. As I said, looking upon it ftom say on top of a rock, it looks like animal pens or a feedlot. The passages could have been passages for the housed animals to get out of the weather as well as allowing humans in to feed them. The ‘clock’ built around it allowed them to measure the passage of time. They would know when certain foods were available or whrn to collect say...fawns for food, or when it was time yo gather wood for winter or whrn it would soon be spring.

It obviously took intelligrnce to build this little place. For what purpose, nobody knows except it was an efficient operation. It could have been a community feedlot, or a dwelling for small humans or both. It could have been for religeous services..All we can do is sprculate. But one thing is certain; in primitive times, they didn’t waste evergy just for the heck of it. It had to have a purpose necessary for life. Summers are short, winters are long, food needs storage and needs to be kept safe from marauding animals. Rocks work when in abundance and can keep bears out of stuff. Rocks also heat up and radiate heat once warm. So I think the Salem facility had a very practical purpose. Most of the rocks used for this dwelling are within the arm circumference of people with fulcrums to place them in their final positions. It’s on a hill so many of the rocks could have been rolled downhill or even dragged down hill.
So when you need to clear space for growing food, what do you do with the rocks? Build something useful with them.

They could have dug out the dirt from around existing boulders. Some were relatively flat so there would be a roof over some of the structures, and then filled up under the boulder with rocks to hold the roof up.

That whole area...the state and surrounding areas wewe all covered in massive glaciers which moved mountains all over the place. It’s the granit state for a reason. So no...it didn’t take hiants yo build this site. Just lots of smart people.

Is that like walking to school in the snow, uphill, both ways?

Just curious.

Makes sense. Thanks for filling in the questions. I had never known of this place to exist until seeing this episode.
