Math is math. It can’t be racist.
Another step in common core idiocy. Dumming down American youth, one victim at a time.
Math may be the one thing that isn’t racist. The left should accept the fact that life isn’t “equitable”. Some can do math, some can bounce a ball. What does the Gates foundation care about this? He can only count to one.
I bet none of these people consider math to be racist when someone is counting their change.
2+2=5 is racist.
Or, allowing..and not correcting ..someone could be.
What point is math if you don’t get right answer?
Planes may fall out of the sky and cars’ wheels fall of mid destination, but hey everyone gets an equitable grade in math.
They'd do better to find 10,000 smart and motivated people, and give each of them $14k.
Tired of this jerks ‘God complex’.
Hope Karma catches up with him sooner rather than later...
Gates wouldn’t think math is racist if someone short-changed him on his investments.
I think people get so rich they lose their minds. Added to that they are flattered all the time and they can’t let that stop so they keep writing checks, regardless of how preposterous the claims. The more they give to lunacy the more they sink into it and into the clutches of the democrats. Common sense has left years ago and nothing remains but a big EGO bloated from toxic praise. They are applause-a-holics that constantly rely on their handlers to feed the addiction. Money ends up being a curse because it constantly feeds the beast.
i hate these two assholes.
Let me guess - at the bottom of it all, the solution is to ‘dumb down’ math to ‘level the playing field’.
Idiots.
I have noticed that black people tend to be the very best athletes and are over-represented in sports.
Perhaps they should have to wear weights on their wrists and ankles until there is an equitable balance of races.
GATES IS EVIL!
convert all math word proplems to drug and pimp type stories they will do just fine
The article points out that they want the teachers to be accepting of different problem solving approaches. My son had a problem in school and I showed him how to solve it. He said the teacher wouldn’t like the approach I used to solve it. It produced the correct answer and was the approach I remember learning.
IMHO, as long as the approach produces the correct answer what difference does it make? Perhaps it makes it more difficult to grade partial credit. The idea that different approaches are due to white privilege is ridiculous.
“Show your work, Rosa Parks!”
Do they realize how utterly, completely, laughably idiotic they sound? Why bother learning? Why worry about the right answers?
Do they think "close enough" or "he/she tried" is good enough to get a Falcon-9 into orbit? Would they settle for engineers who merely "felt good" about their work having designed the ABS brakes on their cars? That smoke detector in your home, designed and built "good enough" that ok?
No, of course not. The real world requires the right answer, period. If you can't do the work, don't try to do the work. If your talents aren't in math, then they're not in math. Don't dumb down math just to make some people feel better. Hey, no-one is dumbing down signing or dancing for me. I could be a virtuoso...if the standards are low enough. There's probably no help for my golf game unless they let me simply walk down to the green and drop the ball in the cup, but I digress...
This push is the dumbest thing I've heard this decade. Probably the dumbest thing I've heard this century.
So, if you compute your spacecraft’s trajectory to orbit Saturn
and it hits Uranus instead, that’s ok?
