“As a dago that has been eating polenta, cooked on an outdoor, wood fired, oven,”

What’s your take on grits?

What's your take on grits?

I ate grits when I was in the Army stationed in FT. Jackson, SC and they reminded me of cream of wheat.

It was crushed cooked mush {corn} and served with butter and salt and pepper was OK.

But I was a young Army guy, and I even ate SOS, so you know I was hungry.

I don't order grits when I eat breakfast at a restaurant today, but I imagine that people that grew up with grits have figured out many ways to eat them.

Cornmeal and corn dodgers are just a coupla ways that I've seen and are pretty good eating.

Polenta is just an Italian variation of ground corn meal, made into a mush and then baked.

Way back in my Drum Corps days the staff would serve us grits on Finals morning.

There was even a bumper sticker: GRITS: Breakfast of Champions
