You do need to be badged, to post links when you comment on other posts or to post images or videos.

And what is concerning about having to provide front/back images of a government ID is that they deliberately do not take steps to protect that data. They leave it un-encrypted on servers they don’t even own.

That data, to date, has already been compromised.
