True. Only ones that use it (and Windows XP) are Chinese Communists who are using cracked/pirated copies.

Most modern hardware doesn’t support it. Only good for mundane tasks that most low-powered ancient crapware laptops and desktop machines can support. Stuff I normally donate to poor relatives.

To be frank, my oldest laptop is 2 years old and my desktop computer is constantly upgraded.

Will you buy my new software and hardware too? I still run XP on a 120k inspection machine. I will take one of those too. Thanks in advance.

I’ll bet you don’t appreciate my Windows 98 or my 54’ GMC long bed pickup either!

And here I thought I was keeping up with the neighbors!

From my perspective that seems like a statement made by a younger person. Our newest vehicle is from 2001... an Astro Van with over 200,000 miles. Our Piper Cherokee airplane is from 1969. Both of them work just great. I have an interesting computer called a Spectravideo SV328; it was the design on which the MSX standard was based... Microsoft's unsuccesful foray into the original world of "home computers" competing against such greats as Apple 2, Commodore 64, the TI99-4A and etc... That little guy still works and I have a lot of software for it. These days it is kind of fun to show off old hardware like that to the grandkids.

We have a collection of old computer equipment going back to the mid 70s. Computers designed for Windows 7 typically choke pretty badly on Windows 10... and in many cases they are still perfectly serviceable.

At this point in time the vast majority of online malcontents are going after Windows 10 users. It is still very possible to protect yourself using anti-malware tools and firewalls that still work with Windows 7, especially if you are using a VPN and not browsing sites the kind of goofball sites that people typically pick up crap from. (porn, pirated content, etc...)

I use many applications that work better with newer faster equipment, so I am on a newish laptop right now. BUt there is nothing wrong with using an older computer with vintage operating systems, or using a Virtual Machine with an older operating system. Older hardware works best with the operating system they were designed for. Sometimes it is kind of fun to use an old piece of hardware, but it sounds like you might not understand that.

“Come on Windows 7 is dead.”

Out of my cold dead hands. All of my computers are Windows 7. Hubby’s are 10, and he spends hours a week on the phone or online with our technical support company.

I’ve had only two issues with it. Last week they upgraded Malwarebytes to the newest version. Once or twice a day the system would freeze, requiring powering off to shut down. It wouldn’t even do a contl + alt + delete. Tech support changed Malwarebytes to the prior version and it’s perfect now.

I was running MS Office 2003 and Hubby talked me into loading Office 365. Outlook wouldn’t work in either version. The tech checked it out and said that there were dueling .dll files. So I uninstalled 365 and it’s good again.

And you’re right; none of our cars is as old as Windows 7.

Most people don’t even own cars that old.

Excuse me? I own and drive a 1997 Toyota Corolla. Before that it was a 2000 Chevy Lumina.
