I use Windows 7 on my desktop pc as my primary computer. I hate Windows 10.
It has promise but it is a mess plus spies on you.
Firefox browser as you can customize it and add ublock orgin ad blocker among many others like: Easy Screenshot, New Tab Override, Disable HTML5 Autoplay, Empty Cache Button, Print Edit WE, View Image.
You can customize and add the icons for the add-ons onto the toolbar for easy access by clicking on the 3 lines in the upper right> Customize. Just drag where you want the buttons.
Thunderbird for email. You must get the free addon called Phoenity Icons 3.0b8 as Thunderbird did an update that made all text too tiny and removed the colorful icons. Phoenity Icons 3.0b8 brings it back plus you can change the text size to what you want using the steps at the link.

That’s the single biggest reason to stay away from W10.
I hate Windows 10. But (thank God) there is a wealth of easy customization and free software to do such.
Like over 200 tweaks available in in Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 for Windows 10 From the Windows club.
Add to this Winaero features of the Winaero Tweaker
