Do you think that the Senate will get 67 votes to convict? I think there are that many Rinos in the Senate who would like to convict, but I think they, even McConnell, are smart enough to know that would be a death knell for their party. Given that only 6 agreed it was even Constitutional, I would be surprised if any more than that would vote to convict.
Your analysis seems reasonable; as much as many in the Whig Party would like to send Trump to Devil's Island they must know that it would sound the death knell for their party - a party that stands for almost nothing patriotic, pro U.S. sovereignty.
IMO, our Constitutional Republic is not hanging by a thread - it is on the verge of tumbling into an abyss. :^( This next year will be telling.

A vote to convict a President who was unseated in a Coup in a trial that is unconstitutional is clearly Sedition. Every single one that is not an objection to the trial is a criminal act that once prosecuted will disbarr every participant from serving in any government position for life.
