I’m thinking hard about going to an isolated, rural, small home with:

Well and septic (both pre-sale tested).
No sump pump.
Yard enough for cordwood.
Nearby fishing and hunting.

Would also:

Add extra insulation.
Add wood heat system.
Add hand-pump option to well inlet.
Add 12v LED lighting.
Have several dogs.

Note in more northern climates solar is mounted on racks on stands in the yard about 4 foot from the bottom to the ground. That way they are out of the snow. And you can easily sweep them off. Also have seen them mounted on the roof of small tough sheds for the same reason. With the inverter and battery rack inside the shed. That way thin ac cable is run to house instead of thick DC cable.

Both are easier to service and don’t cause leaks on your house roof, (or require a new one.)
