No State income tax in Texas. That should count for something. If I ever move again, the will definitely be a major consideration.

You have to balance the no state income tax in Texas against the very high property and other taxes. Home and vehicle insurance high also as Texas is in Tornado and Hail alley. A smaller city/town is best anywhere, large cities are not civilized imo.

I have a friend in South Carolina who likes it, but he is in a hi-rise on the beach with gated garage as there is quite a bit of crime there. (Myrtle Beach)

"No State income tax in Texas."

Texas is a high property tax state though, depending on your county and school district. Based on overall taxation, Texas ranks #32, South Carolina #41, Washington #21.

If you are low income, but have a valuable property (retired in a nice home) Texas does not look good on taxes. If you are high income, and don't have valuable property (working out in the oil industry), Texas is great.

Yeah but the property and sales tax will wail on your ass bigtime. Lived in DFW for 30 years. Avoid the metroplex. Its just insane growth and too many people. Look into Tennesse as another option. Stay away from Nashville, well Davidson county. Not as hot as Texas, no income taxes

Texas has their own independent power grid. They are energy independent in both production and refining capability. They are agriculturally independent too.

They have a very diverse climate north to south and that is a plus-minus. You can get all 4 seasons but all areas a prone to occasional seasonal extreme weather like tornadoes and hurricanes.

The people are down home wonderful when you get away from the high density urban areas. True blue Americans none of the sunshine patriot types. You may find liberals but most would be considered a radical threat by the AOC liberal types in the northeast. Ignore beto o'rourke. He is just an attention whore, nothing like a real Texan.

DON’T PICK A STATE UNTIL THE NATION BREAKS UP! Then you can see when to live free. This Civil War—Virginia will go with Nancy Pelosi so will Georgia, But Many states of the Midwest will go Free. Who will be the president? Donald J. Trump.
